Aerobic Exercise For Natural Weight Loss
Aerobic exercise is also an essential part of natural weight loss. This combined with proper resistance training will allow you to reach optimal weight loss. Without it you just are not going to get there. This page covers all you need to know about this type of exercise for natural weight loss.
In my book “Metabolism Makeover” I detail all the scientific findings that show how aerobic exercise causes natural weight loss and all the rules you need to follow to make it work for you in a comprehensive weight loss program. Aerobic exercise is defined as exercise that uses oxygen to create energy to do the exercise. A marathon runner, for example, runs at a lower intensity (compared to a sprinter) so that the runner can use oxygen to keep generating energy to keep running for over 20 miles. When it comes to weight loss, aerobic exercise is important because when oxygen is used to create energy, body fat is allowed to be metabolized as fuel! You see, when oxygen is not used, as in anaerobic exericse, ONLY sugar is used as fuel for energy. For Those Who Cannot Lose Weight
For some people who cannot lose weight, it is because their nervous system is conditioned to use sugar only no matter what. For these people, they NEED to do a period of low intensity aerobic exericse. Aerobic exercise is a very direct way to condition the body to change the way it uses oxygen. The Problem
The problem with aerobic exercise for most people is they think they are doing aerobic exercise when they are not. They are using a DVD that says the word “Cardio” and the lady or man on the screen is saying it is “aerobic.” Or the class they are in has the word “aerobic,” like “Aerobics Class.” Your exercise is aerobic to the degree that it is using oxygen. Period. That is the end of the story.
If the exercise is too intense it is not using oxygen. The reason is that when the intensity increases, your nervous system switches from one energy pathway to another. It is shifting from using oxygen and all macronutrients (including body fat), to using no oxygen and using only sugar to create Energy. The problem in for most of you is you don’t know whether you are really doing aerobic or anaerobic exercise. It is common for clients to say they do aerobic exercise everyday.
