Are ketosis and fat metabolism the same thing?

I am wondering about whether ketosis and fat metabolism are the same. When we follow the plan mentioned in the book to have starches every third or fourth day this would alter ketosis but does the body stay in fat metabolism? Thank you!

Hi,

Well it seems similar to the idea of adding carbs every 3rd or 4th day but they say eat30grams of carbs or less on weekdays which is quite low (does this effect thyroid)

Yes, i show that in my book

and also the carb days are back to back. Does the 5 day low carb mess with thyroid production,

Yes I state this in my book

also what is advantage of having separate carb days vs back to back days?

I answered this in the book.

It depends on the person. If you are a body builder and working out heavy then two consecutive days can have a minimal effect. This is a very draining lifestyle.

But as I stated in my book, I am not addressing athletes.

In the end you want to experiment and see what works for yourself.

Also, keep it simple and enjoy yourself. Try not to make things more complicated than they need to be. Test out what works for you. In the end you have your own body and your own lifestyle.

I find people read so many different things and over complicate things for themselves so much instead of just doing it. So my advice for you is to make a decision to follow a plan and do it. Then see how it goes!

What do I think of it?

Can you give me a more specific question? And what you are are trying to find out so I can answer more specifically?

I try to avoid answering "What do you think?" questions.

Thanks this is very helpful. Do you have any thoughts on the anabolic diet, 5 days at high fat mod. protein low carb (very low) and a two day carb up with lower fat?

Hi,

Thats a good question and helps me calrify the terms for others as well.

Ketosis is simply a state where there is an increase in ketones in your blood. The increase in ketones is a result of your body fat breaking down to create fuel for the body. It is a part of the process of metabolizing body fat.

Using the cycling of carbs keep the metabolic rate higher because when the amount fast fuel in the body declines (sugar or simple carbs or large amounts of starches at one time) the thyroid reduces the amount of thyroid hormones it produces.

This is why people on a low cal diet start to get tired. It is a sign your metabolic rate is dropping because of your thyroid reducing. So by changing your diet on an interval basis like cycling starches, it boosts your thyroid back up.

So it keeps your metabolic rate higher.

The problem here is that people are conditioned to think is one dimensional terms like "fat burning" and "fast metabolism" or slow metabolism"

They are all different.

So on the day that you cycle starches, you will not be fat burning at that exact moment, but you will stay in fat burning mode by doing it. If you do not do it, you will eventually go into fat storing mode because your metabolism will start dropping due to your thyroid reducing its output.
