Benefits of Interval Training
"The benefits of Interval training make you get more weight loss in less time."
The benefits of interval training come under two categories. There is increased oxygenation and reduced injury. To learn of different kinds of interval training exercise, you can read, “What is Interval Training?” For people that have fast heart rate recovery, they should do high intensity interval training. The only exception is if they have not exercised in a long time, they need to build up their muscles and tendons to prevent injury from the high intensity part. So once that is done they have to do high intensity interval training as the vast majority of their exercise program. The benefit with high intensity interval training, is increased oxygenation of the cells. You can read, “VO2 Max” to understand why this increased oxygenation is so important to weight loss. Your body’s ability to use oxygen is directly proportional to its ability to burn fat for energy.
The second benefit is really for those who cannot or should not do intense exercise. These are people with excess cortisol and adrenal fatigue. They have to exercise at or below a certain heart rate. This is discussed in detail in my book Metabolism Makeover.
If they exercise above this heart rate they will get more fat. While exercising below this heart rate, they should strive to go for longer periods of time. At least 30 minutes but as long as they can above that time amount. This starts to recondition their nervous system to stop using sugar for energy and start using body fat. While doing low intensity exercise, I advise them to still use intervals. They just do the intervals while staying below a certain heart rate. I give an example of this on my page, “Low Intensity Interval Training.” Doing intervals with low intensity is good conditioning for the muscles, joints, tendons and the whole body to get grooved back into shape with minimal pain and injury. There is no other way I would do it. I noticed my clients get up to speed much much faster doing this when they have been out of exercise for a long time. They are able to increase their endurance much faster as well when they do low intensity interval training. I hope learning the specific benefits of interval training has been helpful to you. It is actually all very simple once you understand the basic principles that are at work. Coaching
