The trick is knowing the reason for doing it and the rules to follow when doing resistance training.


Benefits of Resistance Training #1

Of all the benefits of resistance training, first and foremost is the natural hormone restoration you get with it. You will not get it with any other exercise. This is assuming you follow all the rules in the “Metabolism Makeover.

If you have not already read these pages, there are two sets of hormones, Fat Storing and Fat Burning hormones. You can learn about them on these pages:

Hormones are very powerful substances that direct the body on how it should be built. When there is a high supply of fat burning hormones, you have a younger metabolism and it is easy for you to build lean muscle if you do not already have it. Also, it is easy for you to lose fat and look lean with simple diet and exercise.

If you are having a hard time losing weight it is most likely that you have a hormone imbalance. This simply means you have a low level of fat burning hormones and a high supply of fat storing hormones.


Benefits of Resistance Training #2

As opposed to weight training, there are resistance exercises you can do that do not involve weights. Weight training is simply training using weights. Ultimately, it is the best way to go. However, not everyone is at that level and also not everyone has access to weights. If you have not exercised in a long time, you would do best to not hit the weights yet but to learn the various resistance exercises that can be done with furniture in the house and that use your body weight.

Another one of the benefits of resistance training is it raises your basal metabolic rate. When your hormone balance is mainly fat storing hormones, your metabolism is actually older than the age of your body. Restoring your hormone balance will make the age of your metabolism younger. This causes your lean muscle to increase. Don’t worry it increases in all the right places and if you are a woman, it increasing lean muscle will create a flattering hour glass figure. For a man, lean muscle is what creates the flattering “V” shape.

Lean muscle is also raises your rate of metabolism. Muscle itself is a fat-burning organ because it consumes fuel more efficiently. As long as you follow the rules of diet and rest outlined in the “Metabolism Makeover” and in this site, you will use muscle to burn fat. Your body loves muscle.


Benefits of Resistance Training #4

You will not have to keep increasing the amount of time you have to exercise. With almost all other forms of exercise the only way to keep the fat burning benefits, is to increase the amount of time you do the exercise. For example, endurance exercise will cause fat loss. But to keep making it burn fat, you have to do it longer and longer. That is the only way to make it work.

With resistance exercise or weight training exercises, you have to keep it within one hour to get the most out of the workout. The change you make is the routine and the intensity of the workout.

This makes life a lot easier for you. Also, in order to make it work best, resistance training should ideally have 48 hours of rest between them. That means you rest one entire day following a resistance workout.

This means
Less time and more result.

You’ll feel calmer and more relaxed. Resistance training causes a high release of endorphins. This causes a more relaxed mindset. Resistance training is a natural producer of emotional highs.


Benefits of Resistance Training #6

Because of the hormonal response of your resistance exercise workout, you will have a surge in growth hormone and testosterone. This will increase your feeling of well-being and mental focus. You will just feel stronger. Your posture will improve. You will find that you can do more things with your body that you could not before.
