"Let's help reverse childhood obesity,.. Get kids of flavored milk... PLEASE!" | Hiya! Hold the chocolate milk... and the strawberry milk... well, hold all milk! Use my recipe instead. Flavored milk is one of the causes of childhood obesity. Here's why... Milk, or dairy in general, makes your body fluids acidic. It also increases the mucus build up in your digestive tract. It also increases white blood cell count. Also, most milk consumed in the US is non-organic or from "farm-raised" cows - all injected with antibiotics, estrogen and growth hormone. But there's more to it. Kids today in the US who go to public schools are on a cafeteria plan and are usually served a small box of milk. There is the choice of flavored milk as well. According to the government agency, the flavored milk is there to entice kids to drink more milk so they get more calcium. But... Eight ounces of white milk served in Los Angeles public schools contains 14 grams of natural sugar or lactose; fat-free chocolate milk has an extra six grams of sugar for a total of 20 grams, while fat-free strawberry milk has a total of 27 grams -- the same as eight ounces of Coca-Cola. Please just get the kids off this drink. Easy Flavored Milk Use almond milk instead. You can buy it but it is so easy to make I suggest you make a few liters or even gallons, depending on how much you or your family drinks and keep it in the fridge. Almonds are superfoods. They are a source of essential fatty acids. When they are soaked in water for 8 hours, the starch content is drastically reduced and all the enzymes become active again. So it takes on the property of a vegetable now. It is also a source of protein AND fiber. And there is no saturated fat. Here Is How To Make Almond Milk At Home.... It is so easy you're crazy for just not making it. Almond Milk Makes 10 cups 10 cups water 5 Tbs almond butter* Blend. Store milk in pitcher or container in the fridge. Sweeten It Now that you have the recipe for almond milk, you can see you can change the thickness or watery-ness of it. You can also sweeten it in a healthy way. Add stevia or xylitol to taste. Or add a product called "Just Like Sugar" to taste. Flavor It Try this out. Get a cup of almond milk, add a teaspoon of raw organic cacao. Then blend. Sweeten with the sweeteners just mentioned. There... chocolate milk. You can also add vanilla extract. The brand "Simply Organic" has a great line of extracts (including peppermint! Which is also a great addition to this chocolate milk) I really like adding nutmeg to the chocolate milk. For the strawberry flavor use a "strawberry extract." Cook's Vanilla is a company that makes an assortment of extracts. They have a berry section. So try them out. They have blackberry, raspberry and strawberry extracts. A few drops is all you need. Olive Nation is also another company that makes these. To Your Health and Happiness! Yegyan |
