Childhood Obesity: MSG
"MSG is another contributor to childhood obesity. Most of it is hidden in foods."
You can count on almost all children’s foods, snacks and packaged foods to contain the MSG. MSG causes obesity and diabetes and insatiable hunger and cravings as well as high fructose corn syrup. This is a proven fact and you can find the references for these in the above links. MSG stops leptin (the hormone that makes you feel full) from being secreted. Leptin is a hormone that tells your brain you are full. MSG is famous for being in Asian restaurant food and Asian fast food. This is why Asian fast food and Asian restaurant food has the reputation of leaving you feeling hungry after eating a meal. MSG also causes insulin resistance and then leaves elevated levels of glucose in the blood. This is very stressful to the body and the nervous system. The stress causes cortisol to be released and when it gets released their body cannot use oxygen very well. Their body can only use sugar for energy. This will cause fat storage as well. This physical stress early in the child's life will contribute to childhood obesity as well. Cravings, inability to concentrate and roller-coastering blood sugar levels are part and parcel to these two substances. More people are aware of this now but the problem is that it is hidden in a lot of foods. It is very hard for someone to take personal responsibility for their health and their choices when they are not being told what they are eating in the first place and when they do not know what they are eating will do to their health. - Textured Protein

- Yeast food or nutrient
- Glutamic Acid Sodium
- Caseinate Autolyzed Yeast
- Vegetable Protein Extract
- Senomyx (wheat extract labeled as artificial flavor)
They are labeled in different ways to lead one to believe they are not ingredients in the food they are eating. But in fact, they are eating MSG. Children's foods such as the famous "Lunchables" are laden with MSG and High Fructose Corn Syrup. It is hard to wonder how children can avoid childhood obesity with this onslaught. The solution is to get more organic into your diet. Phase out processed and mass produced foods. I know it is hard. I am not asking you to go cold turkey. Do one thing. Then do another.
