Children and Vitamins

Yegyan,

Thank you so much for the very enlightening call yesterday evening. I got a lot of benefit from both you and Doug's offerings. Really good stuff and I've begun implementing it already this morning with ham, eggs, and toast. My son was very involved and said it was the best toast he'd ever had! ha!!!

One thing that you didn't touch on, that I would like to know about is how to use vitamins with my son. Currently, he takes a gummy (Superhero packaged) multi-vitamin everyday, once a day. He begs for more, probably because they are like fruit snacks. But he loves to take them everyday.

Do you think that a) it is good to give him these gummy vitamins, b) have an opinion regarding whether to give more than one dose/day, and/or c)have a recommended brand or type of vitamin that is good for children's general health?

Any general information you can provide on the general use of multi-vitamins for children would be helpful. Note: There is no specific illness or problems that I am aware of, just speaking generally. Thanks so much.

It depends on how much you've taken.

My methods will help you. But to quit addiction to chemicals after a lot of exposure, there will be more steps needed.

Marijuana addict...
by: Anonymous

"I don't mean to be overkill with my answer but the more important and less well know part of the vitamin question is that stress, toxins, medications or chemicals in the body cause your body to burn up vitamins and minerals very fast. Were talking 2 - 500 times faster than normal.

This is why a drug addict has such a hard time recovering. There is so much of the drugs residue left in the body, the metabolism is constantly burning up vitamins and minerals trying to metabolize it. So there is a bit of a two way street.

With the above mentioned information, will the information in your book help someone who is addicted to marijuana quit the addiction all together or will they have to do something else?
Thank you.

Hi there,

Very nice question. Vitamins and especially minerals for children is deinitely very important.

The quality does matter. The vitamins you are mentioning can be improved since they have sugar. So far the best multivitamin and multimineral that is easily available and not too expensive is the brand "Alive!"

Here is a link: http://www.feelalive.com/

Generally speaking, I would take the liquid one.

Now here's what I would try with your son. Try getting his agreement to take it at breakfast and at least at night. I am surprised how easy it is to get kids to just take it. Especially when you take it too.

Most kids in the 50's used to take a liquid vitamin before school. It was part of a normal day. I did when I was a kid. it just got normal even though I didn't like the taste. My mom just made it fun.

Alive! also makes a tablet form as well. If your son is ok or old enough to take a capsule or tablet when at school, have him take it at lunch as well.

For your other question about how much is ok to take. What I'll tell you will be counter intuitive and you may feel a bit odd practicing it. But you take as much as is needed. that usually involves taking much more than is recommended.

If you look at those "One-a-day" multivitamins, you can take 2 of each for breakfast lunch and dinner and you will get more benefit.

For a child you give a child's dose (which is usually indicated on the package) in the morning and dinner time.

To answer your question if it is reputable brand, yes it is ok to take more. There are some exceptions to the rule of taking to many of one over another, but it is something you have to try very hard to do.

You'll do better taking a regular store brand 3 times a day when it says to take it once a day.

Another very good brand is the Amway one. I don't have an affiliation to it. My uncle and aunt are very successful distributors and they gave me a pack of their "Nutralife" vitamins and I was blown away. I still take them.

One of the things to look for in tablets (not capsules) is the filler that is used. To make a tablet hard, they use a filler. Well with the Nutralife tablets they use spirulina and some other plant based filler.

Another good brand is called "Ultimate Matrix" They also use spirulina as the packing filler.

Because of this, the WHOLE capsule is used.

I don't mean to be overkill with my answer but the more important and less well know part of the vitamin question is that stress, toxins, medications or chemicals in the body cause your body to burn up vitamins and minerals very fast. Were talking 2 - 500 times faster than normal.

This is why a drug addict has such a hard time recovering. There is so much of the drugs residue left in the body, the metabolism is constantly burning up vitamins and minerals trying to metabolize it. So there is a bit of a two way street.
