Corticosteroids

I'm wondering to what degree 26 months of corticosteroid use may have damaged my metabolism.
I am at 66 trying to shed 20 pounds of what I thought to be very uncomfortable bloat exacerbated by prescribed ADVAIR inhaler for COPD and emphysema after many years of smoking (mouth breathing) and reasonable if relatively rich diet. I have been cautioned by my TCM doctor, who weaned me off the ADVAIR that corticosteroids cause fat to bind to the "trunk". Nine months of acupuncture treatment resulted in an apparent (cat-scan) reduction of the emphysema to a negligible presence and has greatly enhanced my ability to recover from pulmonary distress.
I have not been able however with proper diet and exercise for several months to lose weight. It has stayed in my bloated abdomen very uncomfortably at about 180 pounds now for some four years.
My physician says I'm getting old, my TCM doctor hope that her therapy will enhance my metabolism and an ultrasound technician suggested that it's a combination of gas, water and hard fat ....
I am enjoying your book immensely and read it slowly and deliberately with hope for a future of metabolic balance.
