Dehydration, Digestive System Natural Weight Loss
Dehydration can ruin your digestive system and cause you to get fat. Proper hydration is a key to natural weight loss.
Covered in this Section As I wrote about in "Drink Water to Lose Weight" When it comes to the body, water does not work alone. It exists in an environment. Your body on a chemical level, is an entire ecosystem and all things depend on each other. Water alone will just go through your body without much benefit if it is not combined with other components to make it more effective for health and and weight loss. In fact, water is a major key to your natural weight loss. Water is necessary to the chemical reactions involved with digestion. In fact water is necessary to break proteins, carbohydrates and fats in to their smaller parts. It is also needed to get smaller elements and combine with them to build your cells tissue. Without water, nutrients are not created in enough quantity and not easily assimilated. The digestion that occurs in your body comes from physical/muscular contractions and also chemical reactions. The enzymes secreted in the stomach and the small intestines cause the chemical digestion but the muscles throughout the digestive process are the other half of the equation. The intestines are very long. Together, in an adult, they measure about 30 feet. So you see there needs to be more than a chemical reaction to complete the entire digestive process. The muscles of the intestines automatically stress and flex in a way without or attention. They churn the digested food, called chyme, and move it along through the small intestines to the colon and through the colon. These muscles are obviously comprised of cells and these cells, like every other cell needs water to function. Without minerals no part of your body can keep water. Water in your digestive tract does not help much. It can slow digestion down a lot and prevent you from your weight loss gains. But when water goes into your cells for them to do their works then you have an increase in digestion and assimilation. Water is not needed in imaginary emplty spaces in your body. It is needed within each cell. Your stomach secretes acid (HCI) to activate enzymes that remove the essential proteins from animal products, like meat and dairy, and to sterilize what ever food enters the stomach. The stomach contents, called chyme, are now highly acidic. The chyme will next pass along into the duodenum, the first section of the small intestine. Because the lining of the small intestine is not protected against HCI like the stomach lining is, before chyme enters the duodenum, it must be neutralized. This is where the pancreas steps in. As the chyme becomes ready to pass through the pyloric sphincter, which connects the stomach to the duodenum, the pancreas secretes bicarbonate ions which neutralizes the HCI, making it safe to enter. Water are needed to produce enough bicarbonate ions to neutralize the chyme. If the pancreas cannot locate enough water to do its job, the acidic chyme will not be allowed to move along. It will instead sit inside of the stomach, significantly slowing down the digestive process. The HCI levels will rise as a result, the chyme may begin to reverse direction, and the LES (lower esophageal sphincter) will loosen and HCI as well as small food particles will enter the esophagus. The LES, which connects the stomach to the esophagus is not protected against the HCI, and heartburn is the result. The colon is another part of the digestive system that is affected most by dehydration. As I explained in "High Fiber Foods" part of the function of the colon is to balance the water between the colon and the rest of the body. The colon, when healthy, extracts water, salt and chloride from the chyme and provides these very important nutrients into the fluids of the body. Without enough water in the chyme and/or in the colon, the rest of the body becomes dehydrated. But there are other cascading effects. All the problems of the colon that I talk about in the other sections here are exacerbated by dehydration - Toxicity, constipation, acidity, reduced oxygen and malnourishment. A body that does not receive enough water will conserve it for the most vital organs (the brain, lungs, kidneys, liver and glands.) What this means, is the body will begin to over-produce histamines. These histamines have the job of delivering water to organs. If the histamines are not supplied with enough water to support the vital organs, it will borrow water from the GI tract, first. A colon without sufficient water will produce hard stools which do not pass through and exit the body efficiently, which is known as constipation. This in turn can cause a reversal of motility, putting pressure on the stomach, causing its contents to move up into the esophagus. Chronic constipation can also damage the colon lining. Over taxed liver and kidneys is another dangerous symptom of dehydration. The colon, without sufficient amounts of water, can also reabsorb its water reserves. Since it does not have clean water to utilize, it will use wastewater, which needs to be filtered through the liver and kidneys. Without a fully functioning digestive system that contributes to your optimum health you cannot get ALL the benefits of natural weight loss. With the current dietary standards the cells of your body are actually starving. Without the needed nutrients they starve. The foods you eat do not get converted to the basic elemental nutrients your cells need and thus they chemically turn into fat. The foods that are available today starve your cells and dehydrate you. To hydrate, you need to mineralize! The simplest solutions are always the best. And amazingly, they are easily provided. Based on the page, "Drink Water to Lose Weight" water needs minerals to be part of your body's ecosystem. Without minerals, your body will become mainly a funnel that gets the water you drink and pour it out without much use by the body and it's cells and without much benefit to your weight loss. To hydrate, your whole body, including your digestive system, you have to mineralize your body. You can use the supplements to assist in this but the basics are always going to be: - Eating raw foods that are green and water rich and alkaline foods.
- Making 40% to 50% this type of food.
- Avoid acid forming foods.
Metabolism Makeover
Subclinical hypothyroidism is one of the subjects I cover in my book, Metabolism Makeover. Solving it should be part of a comprehensive weight loss program that focuses of restoring health first to lose weight. Knowing how to use it will save you time, money and hassle because you don't have anymore guess work. I lay it out for you. It is all in this book.
