| If you read "Body Types And How They Affect Your Natural Weight Loss" you will see there are different kinds of "types" of bodies people have. And each "body type" responds to food and exercise in a different way. As if it was not confusing enough to know there are thousands of different diets to chose from different metabolic types, different hormone imbalances, different fitness levels and best exercises for YOUR fitness level, different food intolerances. NOW there are also body types! Don't kill the messenger! I'm just telling you what I find in my consults. :-) Shapes Schmapes! Well, if you took at look at the "Body Types" page you can clearly see there are very distinct body types. (At least I hope you can see it :-)) Here is a link to a website that has a list of "Famous Endomorphs" if you want more examples. I don't agree with some of the people on the list. But I think you will get the idea ;-) When I was first had my practice, clients would always tell me, "I have an 'apple shape'" or "I am a pear shape." And you know what? When I looked up the advice for each of these "shapes" it could not be more wrong! Apple shapes were told to cut carbs out. Pear shapes were told to do more cardio as the only solution or eat more protein. What You Need To Know.... Diet Has Nothing To Do With Shape (Yes there are exceptions to the rule but they are exceptions) Genetic GPS Our body shape has mostly to do with our genetic code. This does NOT mean our gene make us fat or thin and we are powerless against our genes. That is not true at all. I know that for a fact from my own experience and the experience of my clients. What this help us understand is that our genes will tell us what our body's "Body Shape Compass" is. If you are an endomorph your compass will pull your body to a certain way of converting food to energy and body tissue. It also determines how easy or hard it is for you to build or break down lean muscle, how easy it is to store or breakdown body fat. For The Endomorph With an endomorph, your body shape compass is geared to cause your body to store body fat a bit faster and easier and build muscle a little slower. A mesomorph is not like that. A mesomorph builds muscle very fast and breaks body fat down very fast. And Ectomorph breaks body fat down very fast BUT builds muscle very slowly. So each body type responds REALLY differently to different exercises. Really differently. Diet Is Independent of Body Shape BUT! Diet does not. It has a minimal and temporary effect. When it comes to determining your ideal diet, it will always depend on your metabolic types. There are endomorphs that are carb types, mixed types or protein types. If you are an endomorph and you also have a carb metabolic type, eating a low carb diet will make you miserable, drain you of energy and drop your metabolism through the floor. This is NOT to say an endomorph carb-type should swan-dive into a trough of donuts and waffles. Consuming more SUGAR than you can metabolize will result in body fat storage no matter what you do. :-) Again don't kill the messenger. What To Do... So here's what you do if you are an endomorph type.... Find out your metabolic type and that will tell you what your ideal diet needs to be. When you eat according to your body type, you fell energy FROM your foods. This is the way it is supposed to be. I say this al the time. Food is supposed to equal energy. I know... it's a novel concept... food as a source of energy. But this is the big stepping stone in people's weight loss efforts. I think on my tombstone it will say, "If you're not eating for energy, nothing else your try will matter..."
