Fitness Test


"A true fitness test is an objective way to
measure your weight loss potential"

 


 

The way I currenlty see a fitness test used by health professionals, is not very useful because it measures physical ability more than anything.

For example I see fitness tests testing to see how many pushups you can do or how fast you can run a certain distance or how high you can jump. These are very poor ways of measuring your bodies fat burning capability.

People usually have the wrong idea of what fitness means. By understanding what fitness means you can then learn exactly what exercise and how intensely you need to do it to get weight loss results.

I use a fitness test in a different way. I use it to determine what state your nervous system is in and how it is progressing through out your program.

Most people define fitness as what a person is able to physically do. People also judge a person’s fitness level by how they look. A lean muscular guy is often considered a fit person compared to someone who is not lean and muscular.

I am going to show a much better way to objectively measure a person’s fitness level by using some fitness tests. A fitness test should be objective and give a clear indication of how a person or person's body will respond to stress.

A fitness test should show the internal fitness of the nervous system.

If the fitness test shows the nervous system is weak then intense exercise will cause fat to be stored on the body. There will be no fat loss.

If the fitness test shows there is a very high level of fitness, then to lose weight, there has to be a high level of intensity and done a certain way to get the most fat burning and lean muscle building in the shortest time.

So a fitness test should show more than physical ability. Here are the basics of what I use with clients:


Resting Heart Rate

If this is lowering, you are increasing your ability to lose weight. If it is increasing, you will be decreasing your ability to lose weight. Read about Resting Heart Rate.


Heart Rate Recovery

How fast your heart rate can recover from maximum exertion to your resting heart rate is an index of how fit you are. Top notch athletes recover in a minute or two. People who have a slow heart rate recovery have a harder time losing weight. Read about Heart Rate Recovery.


Heart Rate Work Output

This is another test that I cannot find anyone else using. This is a measure of how much work your body can do at or under a certain heart rate. If this work output is increasing you are increasing your body’s ability to lose weight. If it is staying the same or it is decreasing, then you are losing your ability to lose weight. Heart Rate Variability

This is another index to determine the health of your nervous system. This is another revealing look at how your body can stop your weight loss efforts. Learn about Heart Rate Variability.

These indexes are a marker of your true fitness you will learn why you are not losing weight.
