I keep gaining weight no matter what I do

Hi. I love your site. My question to you is, I don't know why I keep gaining weight when I work out so hard and so much--and eat so healthy. I mostly eat PH balanced foods ( I made a list of them and memorized them). Other than that I eat protien like tuna, fish or chicken. I just dont understand this at all.I work out so much, I end up in total exhaustion--and then I gain more weight. Could it be that I am overworking myself too much? After workouts, I end up dizzy, disoriented, very sleepy, fatigued--and gain weight. This is beyond frustrating, I am working soo very hard, to no avail! I don't think I am taking in enough calories though.
I also cannot sleep--I have insomnia( I keep waking up during the night.) I tested my thyroid, it is normal, but a doctor said I do have a slow metabolism from a very long term eating disorder. What can I do to help heal my metabolism? Help, I'm so sad from all of this.

I keep gaining weight no matter what I do (Response 5)
by: Yegyan

Hi Jamie,

That does sound like a really difficult situation you are dealing with. Well, it sounds like you know that you are no eating well. So that is a big plus.

You will have to find a way to come off sugar for a good period of time. From what you described, there is a lot of sugar you are consuming.

You can also start to slowly gain control of your cravings and energy by following the steps in my book or my coaching.

Weight gain
by: Jamie

Hi, I have had trouble losing weight. I do have a poor diet with an addiction to chocolate (especially chocolate and licorice) that I can't seem to stop. I had a baby two years ago and am heavier now than when I was pregnant. I am 82 kilos and 5'8". I have been gaining up to 2 kilos in one week. I do eat breads as well....but I do eat things like weetbix in the mornings with banana and sultanas, usually a sandwiche for lunch and rice/veges/chicken for dinner. Also probably a bit of chocolate each day since quiting smoking. I am also breastfeeding and still wake up at night. What can I do? I know its making me have back pain in the mornings too and my feet hurt :(

addressing stomach acid
by: Yegyan

HI Anonymous,

thank you for sharing that. I want to tell you that if your stomach is severely acidic, you are describing what is called hyperchorhydia. This occurs when our hydrochloric acid levels have gone too low.

When you hydrochloric acid levels get low it is called hypochlorhydia. But when it gets excessively low you have other acids that over produce. Other acids like lactic acids, pyruvic acid, etc.

This is when a person usually starts to consume antacids and medication for heartburn.

Your hydrochloric acid in your stomach is very important for your everyday health and weight loss only because you hydrochloric acid (also called hcl) is essential for breakign dwon proteins in your food.

If you do not have enough hcl in your stomach your digestion will not break your protein down to the amino acids that your cells use to rebuild your tissue. Also when your protein is not being broken down the amino acids in your blood drop and your blood sugar will rise. Protein is one of the things that will lower a high blood sugar level.

When your blood sugar level rises, your insulin level rises. When your insulin level rises, when your insulin rises all your fat-burning hormones stop working.

But other than that there are other very important nutrients you are not getting with deficiant hcl levels.

So you want to start supplementing with hcl and take it only while you are eating.

Take a few mouthfuls of your meal and then swallow your hcl supplement.

Do not drink liquids with your meals at all except for taking your supplements. If you drink liquids while eating you will dilute your existing hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes.

You want to also find the correct dose of hcl to take. In your case you will have to take a lot. This will depend on what brand you take but in general you start taking one capsule with each meal. Then you keep increasing it every day until you start to feel a warm flush in your stomach. Then cut back by one capsule.

In your case you will want to start by taking betaine rather than hcl. Betaine is a more concentrated form of hcl.

If you start doing this you will start to experience immediate relief. This one step alone will do more for you than all the other supplements you are taking right now.

Light at the end of the tunnel
by: Anonymous

Hi Yegyan,

Just some feedback on my issue and for anyone interested.

I went for a 'stress body test' and it turns out that my stomach is very acidic due to stress, thus no nutrients are being asorbed, nothing is being digested properly - hence the fast weight gain and the acid is so high that it is also affecting my celluar metabolism, circulation and hormones. Apparently a bad count is 1 and mine was 5000!

I am not allergic to any foods, however the test picked up that there are certain foods, ie. coffee, cows milk and red meat, that my body is not dealing too well with at this point.

I now have a list of Vitamins etc. and an eating plan to follow and so far so good.

Alternative healing and this form of reading the body using acupuncture points, is the best result I've had : )

I keep gaining weight no matter what I do (response 4)
by: Yegyan

Hi Nikki

so yes everything I said still holds.

If you are working out 3 hours a day, it is too much. Period.

You either need to eat a heck of a lot more and sleep a lot more to allow your body to recover.

If you are working 4 jobs you are probably not getting enough rest to recover from 3 hour a day workouts EVERYDAY!

There is another person who sent in a post and said he plays soccer everyday and in addition to that works out 3 times a week very intensely and is wondering why he is getting fat around the midsection.

All weight loss occurs during times of rest. Period. There is no exception.

NO ONE EVER WENT TO THE GYM AND LOST WEIGHT WHEN THEY LEFT.

The weight loss or fat loss occurs when your body is recovering. This is through sleep and just plain old rest.

However, most of your testosterone and human growth hormone occurs ONLY in deep sleep.

As for seeing your 8th doctor? If you are seeing your 8th doctor, then maybe seeing a doctor is not the thing to do. See a holistic practitioner to look at the whole picture.

Doctors are good people. But they do what they are trained to do. They are trained to look for specific numbers and prescribe something based on those numbers.

If you are gaining 4 KGS in ONE weekend, your body has one or more imbalances.

I have had person after person start losing a lot of weight (especially around the midsection) just by sleeping more and cutting BACK their workouts and eating More.

Thank you for the feedback
by: Nikki

I have 4 different jobs and one of them is as a pole fitness instructor, hence the 3 hours of workouts a day. I have been doing this for around 3 years and have never had a problem.

I picked up 5 kgs alone on just yoghurt, when this first started, I couldn't eat anything else without my stomach acting up.

I now eat incredibly healthy and have picked up 4 kgs in one weekend.

The homeopath says its stress...
I have been reading up on your website and have decided to have my ovaries checked, just to eliminate the possibility. This will be Doctor number 8.

Thank you for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I feel so alone and lost in this and its great to know what there are people out there such as yourself, who offer support.

I keep gaining weight no matter what I do (response 3)
by: Yegyan

Hi Nikki,

I feel your pain! Ok there are a couple of glaring things that stood out to me.

First?

"I do 3 hours of workouts a day,"

That is a lot! I don't know anyone who will not get stuck in a plateau working out that much. It completely stresses the body and does not allow it to recover. And recovery is where the body fat is metabolized!

Next?

"It started 6 months ago, everytime I ate, no matter what I ate, my stomach would bloat real bad."

If this is happening, you have a digestive issue. It is either a hydrochloric acid issue, a digestive enzyme issue, or a food intollerance.

I would look more into what youre eating and why you're working out so much.

There is also the metabolic type a person has to consider> We all have our own inner metabolic fingerprint that identifies us.

If we don't eat according to that we will not be in good health and will slow our metabolisms down.

There there are other various health imbalances that you may have (or most likely have).

What you are describing is inflamation. Not so much fat storage. Fat cannot be created that fast.

I'd fill out a free consult and let me take a closer look and what is going on. There is a questionnaire I look at to see what is really going on.

I have the same problem
by: Nikki

I am at my wits end.

I do 3 hours of workouts a day, I eat rabbit food, have tried every single diet, from no food, to 6 meals a day, to cutting carbs, you name it, Ive done it.

It started 6 months ago, everytime I ate, no matter what I ate, my stomach would bloat real bad.

Ive lost count of the Doctors Ive seen and treatments Ive done.

Its not IBS or a spastic colon or food allergies or my thyroid. Ive been to a GP, Specialist, Ive had acupuncture, colon cleansing, hypnosis and homeopath treatment.

Its so bad, that I am up a total of 16kgs, 4 kgs alone in a period of 2 days.

Please help, its ruining my life : ( : (

I keep gaining weight no matter what I do (response 2)
by: Yegyan

HI Tina,

This is a pretty common problem. Hard to believe for a lot of people who think that exercising more, as in training for a sport will obviously cause you to lose weight!

A consult will help me pinpoint your problem better. But the common problem for people in your case usually is not eating enough and overtraining. When athletes train and then over train, after the early adult years they will generally gain more fat.

I would look at your training and how you run or do your training. I'd look at your intensity, the duration of training and the frequency and also what you eat or don't eat. I'd also encourage you to do my Metabolic Assessment. It will clearly show where the problem is for you.

I would also always train with a heart rate monitor and do my adrenal fatigue and

http://www.natural-weight-loss-myths-revealed.com/fitness-test.htmlstress tests on my site.

Then tell me what your results are.

Exercise and weight gain
by: Tina

Hi. I have a similar issue I run and am currently training for a marathon, just added cycling as a cross train. I have gained 10 lbs and no matter what I eat I can't get back down to my ideal weight. I sleep good but am constantly getting woken up by my partner, so I miss sleep. Plus I wake up early to run before the heat gets too much to handle. I recently suffer from incredibly low blood sugar, which seems to come from having high insulin. All other blood results are perfect. Can you please tell me what to do for this. My adrenals could be exhausted too, I'm not sure. Where do I go from here?...traditional doctors have been very unhelpful. Thank you

I keep gaining weight no matter what I do (response)
by: Yegyan Yegyan

Hi,

You are not alone. From your description, you are almost word for word describing from my book, the effects of adrenal fatigue.

If your adrenals are fatigued and if you are producing too much cortisol, you will gain weight with more exercise. To start loosing you do NOT want to do intense exercise until your adrenals get stronger.

Taking a supplement regimen to help your adrenals heal can make things go a lot faster as well.

In fact, anyone with insonmia should lay off intense exercise for a while until that is resolved as well.

So, I just want to let you know you are not alone and you are not crazy. More people than you know are in the same boat. Rest, keep the diet alkaline, use my book to learn how to get your adrenals strong again. And you will start to see changes. You can also do my free evaluation.

I would like to see if you have elevated insulin as well. If you have elevated insulin and you exercise intensely you will also gain weight in that case as well.

I hope this has given you a bit of direction. Im here if you have more questions.
