Organochloride
and
Weight Loss

"The Organochloride is a category of environmental toxin that is now related to weight gain."

Hello! This page is about a category of environmental toxins. You will see this term mainly in a study of environmental toxicity. Organochloride is pronounced or-gan-o-klor-ide. We will also refer to them as OC’s. It is not one chemical but a class of chemicals that have been categorized as a group.

I am including it here because this class of toxins have crossed over to the field of human health and also the field of weight loss.

On this page you will see a lot of other terms that are also links to other pages. I encourage you to learn about all the different toxins I create a page for. The reason is that I want your awareness to come up. I want people to become more aware of the world they live in and also the direction the world is going. It will also give perspective on your weight loss.

Most Frequently Studied

The most frequently studied types of environmental toxins are organochlorides (OCs) and were found in insecticides, plastics, and industrial oils. Best known is DDT which has been banned from the US because of its toxicity but still remains in the environment. The reason they are studied so much is that they get stored in our fat cells for long periods of time. One study stated that OCs are found in virtually every person on the planet.”1

OCs are frequenty studied with obesity.2

Influences Metabolic Rate

Study shows that OCs are the most important factor in influencing resting metabolic rate. It showed that they lower the metabolic rate by affecting the thyroid hormones. Specifically T3.3,4 This results in a case of Subclinical Hypothyroidism

Approved For Use

As of 2004, there were at least 165 organochlorides approved worldwide for use as pharmaceutical drugs, including the natural antibiotic vancomycin, the antihistamine loratadine (Claritin), the antidepressant sertraline (Zoloft), the anti-epileptic lamotrigine (Lamictal), and the inhalation anesthetic isoflurane.5

Persistance In Environment

While many countries have phased out the use of some types of organochlorides such as the US ban onDDT, persistent DDT, PCBs, and other organochloride residues continue to be found in humans and mammals across the planet many years after production and use have been limited.

To make matters worse the OC's mentionned here are also Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP's). I encourage you to read about what POP's are here, "Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP's)."

In Arctic areas, particularly high levels are found in marine mammals. These chemicals concentrate in mammals, and are even found in human breast milk. Males typically have far higher levels, as females reduce their concentration by transfer to their offspring through breast feeding.6

You Can Do Something About It

  • The first step in changing the world we live in is to become aware of it.

  • All of you reading this have the ability to change it for the better by the voting system. The modern capitalist system has a voting system that determines how our world is shaped. That voting system is what I call "Vote By Purchase." Each purchase you make is a vote for what manufacturers will produce.

Do you know this is how Gandhi brought the most powerful empire to its knees? He wanted independence from England. The fatal blow he delivered was when he convinced India to stop producing for England. India was the greatest source of raw materials for Great England. Without its supply of raw materials, all commerce for England stopped.

You may be dealing with one of me, but I work with many of you and I see so many of you changing your habits and actions as a result of what you read on my site and through my consultations. You can make a difference.

  • Keep learning. Subscribing to my blog and getting my updates and simply asking questions is something you can do.

  • The last thing is to share this information with others. I am sure you can see that my aim is health first and weight loss as a by product. Share this information with others.
