"Looking at what percentage of a body is water is an overlooked aspect of natural weight loss..."" Water and oil cannot occupy the same space. So with your body, the less fat you have, the more water you should have. Some fad diets that reduce your water weight but not your fat weight. At best this dehydrates you and ultimately increases fat. You will feel horrible as well. At worst, you will get ill. When you replace your fat with muscle... you increase your body water content and reduce your fat weight. This is because lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water by weight and body fat contains about 14% [1] The percentage of the body that is water should be mostly from muscle. I am not saying you have to go an start lifting weights or get into an intense exercise or that you have to get bulky muscles. With a nutrition program that feeds the muscle and burns the fat, you will get more muscle but you will get it in the right places. Your body shape will change. If you are overweight or obese, your muscle is smaller than you think. Overweight and obese have the number 1 complaint being "I AM TIRED!" Usually the phrase is "I'm tired of being tired". This ties in to "Drink Water to Lose Weight". With the athletes, they complain of performance and hitting a wall in their respective area. But energy is not a main complaint. It may be one but it is a very small one. Here is the pay off of this message - If the obese person drank the same amount of water as the athlete with the same body weight and everything else remained equal, the obese person would still not lose weight or lose fat over the long term. There will be a temporary drop but it will not last. The difference between the two groups is not the water they drink or the amount of it. The difference is what their bodies do with the water when it goes into the body. | The athletes are using the water to convert food to energy, to convert fat to energy and to build new muscle cell tissue. Overweight and obese are going to drink the water and it will be urinated at best and at worst will cause a loss of nutrients by leaching them out of the cells. To increase the percentage of the body that is water you need to mineralize first. That is the one thing that will make the difference. Water will not stay in the cells without trace minerals. Water will not even go into the cells without a balance of minerals!
