Aside for weight that will not come off, women with PCOS are at risk for the following:

  • Endometrial hyperplasia (excessive and rapid growth of cells of the lining of the uterus) and endometrial cancer (cancer of the uterine lining) are possible, due to overaccumulation of uterine lining, and also lack of progesterone resulting in prolonged stimulation of uterine cells by estrogen.1234

  • Insulin resistance/Type II diabetes. A review published in 2010 concluded that women with PCOS had an elevated prevalence of insulin resistance and type II diabetes, also when controlling for body mass index (BMI).5

  • High blood pressure

  • Depression/Depression with Anxiety

  • Dyslipidemia - (disorders of lipid metabolism) — cholesterol and triglycerides. PCOS patients show decreased removal of plaque in the arteries.6

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Strokes

  • Infertility and Miscarriage78

  • Autoimmune thyroiditis9

It you found this site with the desire to lose weight and find that you have the symptoms of PCOS, I urge you to contact me and/or your health care practitioner and begin a protocol to address the root cause of your PCOS.
