VO2 Max

VO2 Max means the maximum volume of oxygen the body is capable of using at a given time. This is the most accurate way of determining your level of oxygen use. However, it is cumbersome and can be expensive. A special device is needed to measure this and it will not be worth it to you to use this at home. I use different ways to measure it using a heart rate. It is described in my book Metabolism Makeover. But for now, I just would like you to learn why it is a good indicator of your ability to lose weight. I want to clarify here as I do often, that I am specifically saying oxygen “use.” Two people can breathe the same amount of oxygen into their lungs but they may use a different amount of oxygen in their cells. This is important for natural weight loss because, your body uses two systems to create energy within your cells. When oxygen is used to create energy, your body can use body fat and convert it to energy. When oxygen is not used, your body can only use sugar for energy creation. For some people their bodies can only use sugar for energy. This is why they feel so tired and and hungry all the time. It is also the reason why they crave sugar so much. If you are having trouble using body fat for energy and are also having a lot of cravings for sweet foods and low energy, you are in this category. For you to lose weight you have to change your metabolism to stop only using sugar for energy. This can be done through diet and exercise. So your body’s ability to use oxygen to create energy, is a key indicator of your ability to lose weight. Related Articles:
