What is the best time of day to exercise to take advantage of the HGH to lose fat?

Hi!
I love your site. Thank you for putting up such an informative site. My question is as follows:
My boyfriend and I (both type 2 diabetics in our 50's) recently started juicing this past month and began walking during the evenings. We've worked our way up to walking 4 miles/night at low intensity. Listening to your podcast, you said that the HGH is released 12-16 hrs after exercise, yet the hormone is created during our sleep?? Does this mean the optimal time to exercise is during the mornings?
Any clarification on this point would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!

HI Deborah,
Thank you for the compliment.
To answer your question, the best time to do any exercise is always when you wake up. That is universally the case. You have the most energy to get a good workout and you get it over with (if you dont' like exercise) and you get the most health benefit.
As for the confusion about growth hormone, this is how it works?
within the day, there are two points there there is a surge of growth hormone.
1) during deep sleep (the same goes for testosterone)
2) within 45 minutes of of a high intensity resistance workout. No other type of exercise causes the same surge of growth hormone.
That will be the case of acute surges of growth hormone.
Now, there is another way growth hormone increases. When there is a bout of intense weight training or resistance exercise, the first 15 - 18 hours after, there is a decrease of testosterone. Then from the 15 - 18 hour mark to the 48 - 50 hour mark, there is a overall rise of the average level of growth hormone. This is why a person who does resistance training, look younger, have tighter skin and better muscle tone.
I hope that answers your question and clears up the confusion.
Thank you for asking that though.
